About Tactical Gamer

“Know your enemy and know yourself, and you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles.” — Sun Tzu

Tactical Gamer is where I share my love of tactics and strategy — not for efficiency, but for fun. I don’t follow guides or min-max charts; I play how I want, and then figure out how to make it work. I’ll turn Denam (Tactics Ogre) into a knight just because it feels right, and then build a whole army around that decision. Strategy, to me, isn’t about obedience to a formula — it’s about discovery, adaptation, and the satisfaction of solving problems your way.

I like experimenting with unorthodox builds, finding odd synergies, and pushing systems until they reveal something new. At one point I was (apparently) the only person in the world to beat Fallout Tactics on max difficulty iron man — by turning one soldier into a walking fortress with high HP and hit the deck, he could take nukes to the face while the rest of my squad fired from a flank. That’s the spirit of Tactical Gamer: think boldly, play creatively, and never fear being unconventional. Everyone else I had ever heard of tried to use snipers to avoid being hit at all, but they didn’t complete the game.

Here you’ll find reflections, builds, and observations from across the worlds of Tactics Ogre: Reborn, Final Fantasy Tactics, Advance Wars 1+2, and beyond. Sometimes it’s fantasy, sometimes futuristic — but always strategic, always personal, and always about the joy of the fight on your own terms.
